Yoga Therapy
How can yoga therapy help me?
Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to healing that can help address a variety of physical, mental, and emotional issues. It works to balance the body, mind, and spirit through postures, breath work, meditation, and relaxation techniques.
Yoga therapy is effective in treating:
- Chronic pain
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Fatigue
- And other health conditions
Therapy can also be defined as 'to act against disease. BALANCE aims to give you tools to act against your complaints. You will learn how to implement this in your daily life.
How does it work?
Yoga therapy is basically a one-on-one yoga class. Except there is a lot more space for tackling your personal issues, and discovering your capabilities through movement and conversation. The goal is to give you tips and tools, that you can implement in your daily life. And through that eventually help healing yourself.
The Three Doshas
Yoga therapy is strongly connected to Ayurveda. In order to determine what someone needs to maintain health or treat illness, Ayurveda looks at different bodily qualities and functions. These can be categorised in the five elements: space, air, fire, water and earth.
The five elements can be de reduced into the three doshas:
-
VATA
-
PITTA
-
KAPHA

The Three Gunas
Hand in hand with determining what someone needs to create balance, go the gunas. These are the three basic states of being. They can be described as follows:

-
Sattva: harmony, purity, clear
-
Rajas: action, movement, overactive, passion
-
Tamas: dullness, broken, inactive, ignorance

These terms are quite complex, it's hard to describe them in just words. All three gunas are present in humans, but usually one will be more dominant. Through different practices the preferred state can be achieved.
